Buncombe County's Pacing Idea for CC1 based on new CCSS note they have created a full supplemental Geometry Unit and bring in Systems from Course 2--and only utilize Lesson 1 from Unit 1; depending on how opportunistic you are with teachable/expandable moments, you may opt for more of Unit 1, which is critically foundational, and trimming elsewhere.

Unit 2: Statistics - Additional Resources

The CPMP Course 1 textbook addresses Common Core standards S.-ID.1, S-ID.2, and S-ID.3 in Unit 2.
A sample activity to use as a launch for the unit and create an anchor data set to refer back to throughout the unit:
Whole Class Data Collection
This activity allows you to assess students' prior knowledge as well as get them thinking about the issues of Shape, Center, and Spread that they will be investigating in Unit 2. It can also be used at the end of the unit to see how their understanding has developed.

S-ID.4 is not included in the Common Core Math 1 standards.
Since S-ID.5 addresses bivariate categorical data, we recommend a bridge standard here that addresses univariate categorical data. In the Core Plus Course 1 textbook, Question 9 on page 94 is the only mention of categorical data. We suggest the following activity to explore in more depth the differences between categorical and quantitative data:

S-ID.5 Summarize categorical data for two categories in two-way frequency tables. Interpret relative frequencies in the
context of the data (including joint, marginal, and conditional relative frequencies).

Standards S-ID.6a, S-ID.6c, and S-ID.7 are addressed substantially in Unit 3 of Course 1.

Standards S-ID.6b (residuals), S-ID.8 (correlation coefficient) , and S-ID. 9 (correlation vs. causation) will need to be supplemented. If you have access to Course 2 materials, these standards are addressed in Unit 4 of Course 2.
